Poor blackening effect. Even after thorough cleaning with alcohol, buffing to bright shine and more alcohol cleaning. Dissatisfied with blotchy, gray finish.

The black patina for zinc will darken the zinc but the oil on the zinc effects the finish. It’s best to use something that will work on the oil like paint thinner before you apply the patina.

I wish the Zink would turn 100% black on the first application, seems hard to get it jet black without spray painting it.

It can be hard to get an even color. My theory is the oil on the zinc from manufacturing. If you get that clean you may have better results.
